What?
One square picture a day for one year. That’s it in a nutshell!
Background
I used to take a lot of photos using mostly black&white film but after getting a digital camera about three years ago I got sort of bored of photography. After I got a Ricoh GX200 camera I got all excited again. Somehow the camera is very inspirational and as you have probably noticed, I’m a big fan of the rather unique square format it offers. Surprisingly, the square format feels very different from the traditional 3:2 or 4:3 formats. It feels as if I’ve got my first camera again!
Taking at least one picture a day is a great way to document a year of my life and look at photography from a new angle. Who knows, maybe the project will last longer than a year, but I hope I’ll make it at least through the year. At the moment I have a good feeling of the project and I hope it will turn out to be a nice experience!
Technical details
All the photos are taken using a Ricoh GX200 digital camera using the square format it offers. I use a number of computers posting the pictures online and I don’t always have the possibility to post-process the photos. Coming from black&white film background I’m not a big fan of over-processed ‘digital’ looking images. I try to keep things simple. Some of the photos have been adjusted a bit, but I mostly adjust brightness and contrast – the usual stuff you’d do in a darkroom.
